Outrage among ETA victims over the use of a photo in Congress

Date:

During yesterday’s plenary session, the PP spokesperson pulled out an image with photos of twelve socialists murdered by ETA and asked the PSOE if it could look their families in the eye. The reaction of some relatives of the victims was not long in coming.

He People’s Party benefited from yesterday’s plenary meeting on migration in the Congress to sue the government of Spain over the reform of the excessive exchange of criminal record information. In the middle of a tense debate, the PP spokesperson said in the House of Representatives: Miguel Telladoshowed an image with photos of twelve socialist officials murdered by ETA, while his benchmate, Macarena Montesinos, pointed to the poster and laughed. An action that has caused anger and indignation among the victims, especially among those who saw the faces of their relatives in the images.

Maria Jauregidaughter of the former civil governor of Gipuzkoa Juan María Jauregi, was among the first to express her rejection. He did this through a message on the social network of ‘aita’ (father in Basque) as a throwing weapon and to see if you respect his memory once and for all,” he wrote.

Shortly afterwards, on the same social network, Josu Elespeson of the former socialist councilor of Lasarte Froilán Elespe, spoke about the “scavenger use” of his father’s image: “Thank God that what this man says upsets me to an extreme degree, but when I see him as a scavenger holding a photo with the image of “My father upset my stomach until I threw up.”

He has also shown his outrage Sandra Carrascodaughter of the former PSOE leader in Arrasate, calls the popular people ‘villains’: ‘Stop using the victims doesn’t suit you, does it? You are shameless. I don’t want to see my father’s photo in your hands anymore.”.

The journalist Gorka Landaburuwho was the victim of an ETA attack, has gone further and said that “the PP must stop them immediately”, referring to Tellado and Montesinos. “Where were these two lunatics when ETA existed? The instrumentalization of ETA’s victims is neither bearable nor tolerable. They have exceeded all limits of dignity and the minimum respect that should be enjoyed.”

The last to express her rejection was the chairman of the Collective of Victims of Terrorism (Covite), Consuelo Ordónezwho has charged the PP with a strong message about the dirty hands on top of our loved ones. You can’t be more disgusting.
