Poland wants to limit illegal migration and at least temporarily suspend the right to asylum. “We will minimize illegal migration,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said. The enormous pressure from Putin and Lukashenko is the cause of this.
This is one of the elements of his new migration strategy, the liberal-conservative politician said in Warsaw. “I will demand recognition of this decision in Europe.” Tusk gave no details.
At a party conference of his Citizens Coalition (KO), he emphasized that the state must regain 100 percent control over who comes to Poland and enters the EU member state.
The pressure from Belarus and Russia is increasing
He accused Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko of using migrants to put pressure on his country. This is “contrary to the essence of asylum law”.
“We will minimize illegal migration to Poland,” Tusk promised. He wants to present the new migration strategy to the cabinet on Tuesday. Regarding the EU migration pact, he threatened that he would not respect or implement European ideas that threatened his country’s security.
The issuance of visas is also being tightened
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski had already announced on Thursday that Poland would tighten regulations on issuing visas.
