Nehammer canceled – Livestream: Will Kickl announce the end of Blau-Turquoise?

Date:

FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl will report on his conversation with Chancellor Karl Nehammer from 12 p.m. (live stream from 11.55 a.m.). According to reports, the PVV will probably be angry about the ÖVP chairman’s statements. Is this the end of blue-turquoise?

Kickl and Nehammer met on Tuesday after the elections for the National Council, on behalf of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen. Nehammer then again ruled out a coalition with Kickl and said nothing good about his interlocutor.

“As Chancellor I will not act as a stirrup supporter for Herbert Kickl, nor as chairman of the federal party,” he made clear. This is “not a matter of sympathy between the two of us, it is not a question of whether one likes the other.”

It is the issue of ‘political action’, and Kickl has often proven in the past that he is unwilling to take responsibility. Nehammer apparently sees no basis for cooperation.

With his actions, Kickl repeatedly went against the interests of the Austrians. “With his affection for horses and investments in this area”. Moreover, the FPÖ leader has opened the door to Russian interests and spreads conspiracy theories, for example about the WHO.

Is the “sugar coalition” coming now?
The most likely coalition variant besides blue-turquoise is currently the ‘sugar coalition’ consisting of ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS. Kickl described this variant as a ‘coalition of losers’.

Discussions in this direction will take place in the coming days: NEOS boss Beate Meinl-Reisinger will meet the Chancellor on Wednesday, and the SPÖ boss on Thursday confirms a spokesperson with a corresponding article in the “Press”. There will be “no communication” about these conversations for the time being.
