High-tech billionaire Elon Musk is certain: the upcoming US elections in early November will “determine the fate of Western civilization, along with the fate of America.”
This depends on the return of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Musk said on Thursday (local time) in Folsom (US state of Pennsylvania) during one of the Tesla and SpaceX boss’s many planned public events in support of Trump.
Musk hopes for a government job
“I can’t emphasize enough that I think Pennsylvania is the pivotal point of this election,” Musk said at the campaign event. Musk, considered the richest man in the world, expressed his support for the ex-president in July. Since then, there have been joint campaign appearances and Trump’s announcement that he would give Musk a position in government if he won the election. Musk has supported Trump’s election campaign with almost 75 million dollars (68.8 million euros) in recent months.
Harris warns of serious consequences
Trump’s rival Kamala Harris of the Democrats, in turn, emphasized the serious consequences of a Trump victory for her supporters during a campaign appearance in the hotly contested US state of Wisconsin. “Donald Trump is a dubious man, and the consequences if he ever steps foot in the Oval Office again are brutally serious,” Harris said Thursday in the industrial city of La Crosse.
“We are approaching the home straight and it will be a close race until the end,” the US vice president warned. She later continued her campaign tour in Green Bay, one of Wisconsin’s largest cities.
Surveys predict an extremely narrow outcome
Former President Trump and Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris will face off in the November 5 presidential election. The polls predict an extremely close election outcome, which is seen as a milestone for the future of American democracy and the world power’s future foreign policy.
