In Grasellenbach in southern Hesse, police encountered an unusual pet at night: a driver discovered a kangaroo at a bus stop.
The animal calmly and happily ate apples. “Because the driver was certain that she had not consumed alcoholic beverages or other intoxicants and also ruled out hallucinations,” she informed the driver.
With the patrol car to the mountain zoo
The law enforcement officers took the kangaroo in a patrol car to the Fürth-Erlenbach mountain zoo, where it would spend the night. Early in the morning, a 54-year-old woman reported her kangaroo missing.
Pet under conditions
The woman lives in the immediate vicinity of the bus stop and the animal escaped from her. The officials could have taken away her care for her unusual pet. Under certain conditions that allow a species-appropriate life for the animals, herbivores may be kept as pets in Germany.
