The former president of the Generalitat has explained that he is speaking with the general secretary of Junts to decide the best time to take the step and how to do it, because of the symbolic burden it entails. Moreover, he has said that Junts can be neither an “ally” of the PP nor a “prisoner” of the PSOE.
The former President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Arthur Masassured this Wednesday that he would like to join Junts per Catalunya (Junts), together with former President Jordi Pujol: “It has a point of symbolism and we will have to choose the moment well,” he said.
In statements to La 2 and Ràdio 4 (RTVE), Mas explained that he is speaking with the general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, to decide what is the best time to make the move and how to do it, since that is not the case is ” a procedure “everyone” because of the symbolic load it carries.
In early July, at a dinner with Junts officials, Mas and Pujol announced their intention to join the independence party, although they have not yet made the move.
Both Pujol and Mas twice publicly supported the candidacy of Carles Puigdemont in the last parliamentary elections, and Mas even spoke at a party meeting in Vilassar de Mar (Barcelona).
On the other hand, Mas has stated that Junts cannot be an “ally” of the PP in Congress “because he leads Vox by the hand”, but also not a ‘prisoner’ of the PSOEbecause he believes that they are some left-wing formations.
