Netanyahu in danger? – Secret government meeting after attack on Iran

Date:

As reported, Israel fired on military targets in Iran on Saturday night in response to an Iranian missile attack in early October. According to Israeli information, the attacks targeted missile factories and air defense systems. While Iran’s Revolutionary Guards are now threatening “harsh consequences,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting with his ministers at a secret location for a cabinet meeting for security reasons.

The first government meeting after the long-delayed Israeli retaliatory attack on the mullahs’ regime will apparently not take place in Netanyahu’s office or the armed forces headquarters, but at an unknown location, according to Israeli media. The meeting was postponed due to attempts to attack politicians.

Netanyahu’s house targeted by drone attack
Netanyahu’s private residence in Caesarea was recently targeted by a drone attack. However, Netanyahu and his wife were not at home at the time of the attack, a spokesman said at the time. There is a Netanyahu house in Caesarea, a coastal town on the Mediterranean Sea. The spokesperson did not mention the exact location of the drone impact. Such information is generally not permitted to be published in Israel. Media reported an impact near Netanyahu’s home.

According to information from the news portal “ynet”, ministers are not allowed to bring their advisors to the cabinet meeting, which will take place in an underground location.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Hossein Salami is threatening Israel with “harsh consequences,” according to a media report. “The harsh consequences will be unimaginable,” the Iranian news agency quoted Tasnim Salami as saying on Monday. Israel “failed to achieve its sinister objectives” with Saturday’s airstrikes, he added.

Salami said the Israeli attack was a sign of “misjudgment and helplessness,” according to Tasnim. Iranian media had downplayed the impact of the Israeli attacks. Analysts see this as an attempt to prevent the conflict from escalating further. Iran’s supreme spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on Sunday that Israel’s attacks “should neither be exaggerated nor downplayed.”

Iran received indications of an impending attack
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi referred to his country’s “right to respond.” A few hours before the Israeli strikes, Tehran received “indications (…) of the possibility of a night attack,” he added.
