Green Party Leader Werner Kogler demands: The climate bonus must continue to exist. Instead, he would like to see intervention in anti-climate actions.
Werner Kogler is a language artist, but not an illusionist. “I know that, based on our election results, we cannot claim to be co-governing,” the Green Party head and vice-chancellor said yesterday. And presented ‘green zones’ in terms of economic policy for the coming years and possible, although currently quite unrealistic, negotiations on a forthcoming three-party coalition.
Foreign countries are interested in the red-white-red model
Savings must be made, say Kogler and guidance budget spokesman Jakob Schwarz. The Greens made it clear that when it came to savings, they should stay away from cuts to investments in climate protection measures. The climate bonus, which was recently questioned (including by the Tyrolean ÖVP regional leader Anton Mattle, but also by some experts), must remain in place. The climate bonus mainly helps poorer people to compensate for CO2 pricing, which will rise in the future. “Countries like Germany and Sweden are interested in our model.”
Away from the “roundabout of Europe”
Instead, we should engage in anti-climate measures like adding concrete and building more highways. Kogler: “Austria is already the roundabout of Europe.” Here you could save 2.4 billion annually. There is also much to gain from federalism. Everyone knows that. But who will teach this to the states?
