Interesting turnaround: the hunting affair is now before the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office

Date:

Should poaching be investigated in the “hunting trip” case of Tyrolean SPÖ boss Georg Dornauer and real estate juggler René Benko? The Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office should actually check this – the ‘Krone’ reported. But the case now goes to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office!

The fateful hunting trip with René Benko brings along the LH deputy from Tyrol. Georg Dornauer (SPÖ) under fire in the media. With ‘someone else’s hat’ and the Signa-Pleittier, he claims he was just stalking in Styria. Despite his proud stance and the ‘Beutebruch’ hat on his head, Dornauer famously claims that he did not kill the game himself. Explosive: In 2019, a weapons ban was imposed on the Tyrolean SPÖ leader after he left his hunting weapon in the car with the window open at Innsbruck airport.

“Consider investigating poaching”
Since the hunting area – it belongs to the Benko Foundation – is in Styria, the Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office was actually responsible for this case. “We are investigating whether a poaching investigation should be initiated,” the report said.

Speaker confirms: “Yes, that is correct”
But the whole case will now go to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office, as the ‘Krone’ has learned. “Yes, that’s right,” emphasizes Hansjörg Mayr, spokesperson for the Innsbruck Public Prosecutor’s Office, in an interview with the “Krone” and adds: “The case is being transferred to us. We are now considering whether investigations should be initiated.” It cannot yet be estimated whether this will actually be the case.

‘I don’t step back, I step aside’
Dornauer appeared before the media on Wednesday morning – confident, as you know: resignation? No! But a withdrawal as deputy governor and state party chairman of the Tyrolean SPÖ. “I am not resigning, but stepping aside,” the former deputy governor emphasized in the press statement.

In the future, Dornauer will sit as a “normal” member of the Tyrolean state parliament. His successor in the country and the party will be Philip Wohlgemuth, the Tyrolean ÖGB boss. In any case, the transfer should take place on December 18.

After Gusenbauer, Dornauer is the next red star in the Benko vortex
Dornauer is another politician who did not benefit from having a close relationship with René Benko. Anyone who comes into contact with the bankrupt Signa, who constantly sought proximity to politics, will be carried away: Alfred Gusenbauer, who developed into a turbo capitalist as Benko’s companion, as well as former Signa commissioner Susanne Reiss-Hahn and NEOS supporter Hans Peter Haselsteiner or eventually even Sebastian Kurz.

Only for Benko himself does his machinations seem to have no significant consequences. It will therefore be interesting to see who he will join in the next happy halali. Perhaps Sigi Wolf, who publicly swore friendship with his comrades at the Jägerball…
