The leaders of the designated ‘candy coalition’ will meet on Monday for what should be the final exploratory round on the road to government. We looked at what ‘Krone’ readers think about the negotiations and the new government and present a small excerpt from it.
It would be the first three-party coalition in Austria since 1945 and, as is the case in a democracy, not all voters will be happy with it. But that is not necessary at all as long as people work for it in Austria. A government must in any case be judged on its performance. Or like it KroneLeser1681878 formulated: “Let’s talk more in five years.”
The country needs bright minds
A look at the comment sections on the government articles is enough to show how different the approaches, ideas and wishes of readers are in this area. “What is needed is the best of three worlds,” writes, for example PickleRick. Our reader Catco looks forward to a “good, forward-looking government”. Our reader has a tip for FPÖ chairman Kickl Iri-Hor ready: “Maybe in the future Mr. Kickl will reflect in himself and try to be less aggressive and insulting and find a partner for a government next time.”
Coalition of losers
Many readers who cannot see anything positive in the current government formation, write, just like readers, about a ‘coalition of losers’ cable1. You can read similar statements in many identical messages. “The only thing these gentlemen have recorded are their princely salaries,” says KroneLeser2518241. It also feels quite negative Bluesky424“Now those who caused the problems are moving on,” he says, ending his comment with a negative view of the future: “I see the coming years as black.”
What do you think of the candy coalition that will likely rule Austria in the coming years? Do you think a three-party coalition has a harder time than a two-party coalition, or does that not matter to you? Do you have any further ideas on this topic, or are you missing an important aspect that has not yet been covered in this topic? Share your thoughts and ideas with us, we look forward to your comments!
