The Spanish government rejects the segregation of Usansolo

T he Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the manager and the Galdakao City Council have confirmed that the register of local entities has refused to register Usansolo as a municipality in the register of local entities because it does not meet the requirement of 5,000 inhabitants.

The Spanish government has rejected the separation of Usansolo from the municipality of Galdakao (Bizkaia). The Ministry of Territorial Policy has denied the registration of municipality 113 of Bizkaia in the Register of Local Entities for failing to reach 5,000 inhabitants.

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Manager and the Municipal Council of Galdakao have confirmed that the Register of Local Entities – dependent on the Spanish Government – has refused to register Usansolo as a municipality in the Register of Local Entities, as it does not meet the requirement of 5,000 residents, by state law (2,500 by state ordinance).

The three entities will examine which path they now choose for administrative or judicial appeal. Justice would take longer.
