Pressure on Tehran? – New nuclear resolution against Iran introduced

Date:

Several Western states have now introduced a nuclear resolution against Iran. According to diplomatic circles, the text was officially submitted late Tuesday evening. This is intended to increase pressure on the Iranian government.

According to IAEA chief Rafael Grossi, the IAEA is currently preparing a voluntary restriction on the production of highly enriched uranium. The Board of Directors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will meet from Wednesday. It was previously expected that the governments of Germany, France and Britain would introduce a resolution against Iran.

This is intended to increase pressure on Tehran in the nuclear dispute. The country pledged in 2015 to limit its nuclear program after the West feared Iran was building nuclear weapons. In return, Western sanctions were lifted.

However, in 2018, the US withdrew from the agreement, and the Iranian government responded by restricting IAEA inspections and production of highly enriched uranium.
