Next year, Greens faction leader Werner Kogler will resign from his position; he has now appointed possible successors for his position. There are “at least three” high-profile candidates: former ministers Leonore Gewessler and Alma Zadić, as well as Upper Austrian regional councilor Stefan Kaineder.
Kogler did not mention the club’s president, Sigrid Maurer, who was also considered a candidate in the media, even when asked on Thursday evening on ORF “ZiB2”.
Kogler’s resignation as club chairman is still open
The timetable for the revival switch should be determined early this year. “And yes, I will no longer run for party leadership,” he reaffirmed in reference to the federal congress scheduled for the middle of this year.
The Green federal spokesperson left it unclear whether he would also go as club chairman. If new elections were called before then, he would no longer be seeking the highest candidacy.
