PNV asks to reform treaties into federal European Union

Date:

The chairman of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, also vice-chairman of the European Democratic Party, believes that a new constitution is needed that gives room to the peoples

The chairman of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzaron Monday defended the need to convene a European convention to reform the treaties of the European Union and move towards a European constitution from a federal court.

“Europe has a great future that depends on its political integration. We advocate a new Constitution that reserves space for the people who, like the Basques, share the vocation to continue building Europe from their own identity,” Ortuzar said in a statement from the PNV on the occasion of Monday’s celebration of the europe day

According to Ortuzar, the EU should “consolidate its sovereignty” in “important” areas such as defence, security, banking and fiscal union, energy, immigration and social protection.

Ortuzar, who is too Vice-President of the European Democratic Partyhas alluded to the “unjustified” invasion of Ukraine by Russia, but has pointed out that in addition to the war in Ukraine, the EU must face “huge challenges” such as the rise of the far right and populism, climate change or equality between men and women.
