Florian Tursky, responsible for digitization, speaks in “Club 3” about the end of “Kaufhaus Österreich”, its goals, projects, about Günther Platter and the crisis of his ÖVP.
The “Kaufhaus Österreich” closes forever. On July 1, the grandly failed project of ex-Minister of Economic Affairs Margarete Schramböck (ÖVP) will be a thing of the past. Her party colleague Florian Tursky provides extensive commentary on “Club 3” (can be viewed on krone.tv, schauTV and profil.at). The 34-year-old State Secretary for Digitization has only been in office for a short time and, in collaboration with Minister of Economic Affairs Martin Kocher, has set a good example by closing the digital department store.
Originally, the “Kaufhaus Österreich” was an online shopping guide designed to bring business to domestic companies during the pandemic. The Digital State Secretariat, which is now responsible, estimates the total costs at almost one million euros.
“It was one of the measures taken during the pandemic. With the very good intention of strengthening the independence of Austrian companies from large companies. It didn’t have the desired effect,” says Tursky. The pandemic has proven to be a stimulus for digitization, while at the same time exposing weaknesses, such as in healthcare or education.
In “Club 3” Tursky presents his goals and projects. Broadband extension to the farthest corners. Or that in the future you will no longer have important ID cards in your wallet, but on your mobile phone.
In polls, the troubled ÖVP lags far behind the SPÖ at 21 percent. “We want to convince our coalition partner through work.” Florian Tursky also talks about the legacy of Sebastian Kurz and Chancellor Karl Nehammer. And about his close relationship with the retired Tyrolean governor Günther Platter, whose spokesperson he was.
In “Club 3” the editors-in-chief of “Krone”, “Kurier” & “profil” talk to guests from politics, business and the media.
