Forty days after the terrible double murder, peace is slowly returning to the Mühlviertel. In Kirchberg ob der Donau, not only the date for the new mayoral elections has been set. The ÖVP agreed that the candidate would succeed the murdered Franz Hofer. It’s the previous local vice president.
After the assassination of Mayor Franz Hofer, the date for the new elections in Kirchberg ob der Donau was set for March 30. It is also clear who is standing as a candidate for the ÖVP.
Vice Mayor Stefan Reisinger is standing for election. Immediately after the death of his party colleague, he took over office on an interim basis. He will continue to do so until the elections in the spring.
“The most important thing for Kirchberg now is that peace returns after the tragic events of recent weeks. Together with the entire city council, I will do my best to ensure that our city continues to develop in the spirit of our mayor,” Reisinger explains.
Politically active since 2009
The farmer has been working in the group since 2009. For nine years he was part of Mayor Hofer’s close team as a board member. Reisinger took over the deputy mayor’s office after the 2021 elections
