The general secretary of the Basque Socialists has acknowledged that he “believed” an agreement with EH Bildu was possible, but that the sovereigntist coalition has ended negotiations.
The General Secretary of the PSE-EE, Eneko Anduezahas acknowledged that he “believed” that an agreement with EH Bildu on the Basque government’s 2025 budgets was possible, but that this formation ultimately “acted more out of attitude than out of political realism”, and “terminated the negotiations”.
This Thursday, the Basque government concluded the negotiations it opened with EH Bildu to reach an agreement on the 2025 budgets, after the sovereigntist coalition rejected the latest proposal from the executive.
For his part, in an interview on Radio Euskadi, Andueza argued that “it is a final point; EH Bildu has completed the negotiations and it was predictable because they did not accept that everything related to the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) would be discussed at the social dialogue table. “They are prisoners of the ELA union.”
“Initially, EH Bildu said that the negotiations were aimed at turning the budget of the Basque government 180 degrees, but that they had focused only on housing and the SMI: it is an acceptance that the accounts are good,” he stated.
