Following other major American companies such as Amazon and Meta, Ford has also announced a donation for the inauguration celebration of the new American President Donald Trump.
The car manufacturer is investing one million dollars (962,463.91 euros) and making a fleet available, a spokesperson said on Monday. Trump’s planned tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, as well as a freeze on tax breaks for electric cars, could hit U.S. automakers such as Ford.
A few days ago, CEO Jim Farley expressed confidence that Republicans would listen to his company’s position. Farley noted Ford’s role in employment and its importance to American industry.
Trump has been silent about it until now
There was initially no statement from Trump or his transition team. The businessman received a record donation of $106.7 million for his first inauguration in 2017. Current President Joe Biden has raised $61.8 million for his 2021 celebrations, including from Pfizer, AT&T and Boeing.
