The Spanish Government and the Basque Government will hold a technical meeting this Thursday to specify the details of the new power that Euskadi will assume regarding the authorization of work permits for foreigners, which has been agreed by both governments.

Before this Joint Transfer Committee, the Subcommittee on Institutional Coordination and Promotion was convened to discuss the 27 pending transfers and it was agreed to complete the transfer of work permits for foreigners in the coming weeks.
This working forum was agreed by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, during the Bilateral Commission for Permanent Cooperation held last month in La Moncloa and agreed there to streamline the working group commissioned to to complete four transfers of the first block corresponding to this year: work permits for foreign persons, maritime rescue, meteorology and the National Center for Verification of Barakaldo Machines.
The Spanish and Basque governments have left the transfer regarding work permits for immigrants virtually closed and the details will be finalized in the technical committee next Thursday. This transfer will allow the Basque government to be responsible for issuing initial work permits to foreigners and for managing their processing and settlement by 2025.
