Reactions Salzburg – ‘Kickl must show that he keeps his promises’

Date:

SPÖ-Eder wants to wait for the new government program before making a judgement. State leader Haslauer does not want to deny himself a conversation with the Blues. Surprisingly, there is only silence among the FPÖ leadership in Salzburg.

An eventful political weekend ended on Monday with the task of forming a government for the FPÖ around Herbert Kickl. Salzburg Governor Wilfried Haslauer is pleased that the FPÖ has received the order. “If we as ÖVP are invited for talks, we will not turn a blind eye to it,” the state leader said briefly.

It is a logical step for SPÖ interim leader Peter Eder, who is happy that there will be no new elections. “Now Kickl has to prove that he keeps his promises and is chancellor for the people,” says Eder, still calmly. He hopes that budget consolidation will not come at the expense of workers and pensioners. “But we will only judge when we know the government program,” he concludes.

State opposition with much criticism of the FPÖ and ÖVP
Salzburg’s Greens are much more critical. “A blue-black federal government means an erosion of our liberal democracy,” says Green Party leader Martina Berthold, adding: “A chancellor who puts political competitors on search lists, cuddles with right-wing extremists and questions human rights , is a danger. for our liberal democracy and our diverse society.”

Kay-Michael Dankl (KPÖ Plus) is also clear: “Before the National Council elections, the ÖVP warned about Kickl. Now she is more willing to take Kickl to the chancellery than enter into a coalition with timid taxes on the rich. Historically, this kneeling is a low point in the conservative movement, which even concerns me as a communist.”

Salzburg Neos leader Lisa Aldali says: “We are already seeing the stagnation and outdated politics in Salzburg under the ÖVP and FPÖ. If Kickl really becomes chancellor, the ÖVP made him that way and not Neos.” She is referring to the fact that her party has left the negotiations. Salzburg’s FPÖ leader Marlene Svazek, who can now point to a year and a half of government experience with the ÖVP, remained silent on Monday.
