Outgoing Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) warned in Munich against following his country’s domestic political example. In Austria, party interests are considered more important than the ability to compromise. The minister mainly blamed the NEOS for the failure of the coalition talks.
In a situation where Russia and the US were doing everything they could to weaken Europe, it was “irresponsible” for the liberals to withdraw from the coalition talks, Rauch said in Munich on Friday. There he visited the Greens in the Bavarian state parliament.
‘Söder clears the way for right-wing extremists’
According to his own statement, the politician fears that Austria will go ahead of Germany. The federal elections of February 23 are not only about “extremely important matters” for Germany.
If Bavarian Prime Minister Söder rejects any cooperation with the Greens and tackles the Greens “with so much aggressiveness”, he ultimately clears the way for the right-wing extremists. Rauch criticized his course as ‘politically irresponsible’.
As reported, Söder said he did not want the Greens in government. The party is becoming “more and more left-wing, more and more strange and more and more evil,” he complained in the Bavarian state parliament of the Junge Union in Nuremberg. The Greens are not competent enough to work together.
Regarding developments in Austria, Söder has already said that radical parties must be prevented from gaining strength. German right-wing populists are even worse than the FPÖ.
