The domestic policy projects of Donald Trump, who will be sworn in as US president on Monday, include targeting immigrants and transgender people. This puts pressure on the rule of law.
“With the stroke of a pen, we will end the transgender craze on day one,” Trump announced. In the future there will only be two genders in the US. Transgender people should be excluded from the military and banned from schools. Trump also wants to cut state funding for schools that have adopted “critical race theory.” This concept aims to raise awareness about racism, which is entrenched in legal structures.
After his inauguration, Trump also wants to launch “the largest deportation program in the history of the United States.” To do this, he wants to declare a state of emergency and deploy the army. It is estimated that approximately eleven million undocumented immigrants currently live in the United States. American media reported that a major raid was already planned in Chicago on Tuesday. Migrants without residence documents must be arrested and deported there.
Existing program for Cuba and Venezuela
There are currently programs for migrants from Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. In practice, several countries refuse to take back their compatriots.
In his first term, Trump withdrew from the Paris climate agreement, and he will likely do the same in his second term. He wants to slow down outgoing American President Joe Biden on the road to a climate-friendly economy. However, the promotion of climate-damaging energy sources such as oil and gas must be encouraged. Trump also wants to lift Biden’s ban on oil and gas drilling in a huge area off the US coast.
Release the January 6 “hostages.”
In another official act, Trump announced that he would release the “hostages” on January 6. By this he refers to his fanatical supporters who have been convicted and some of them imprisoned for the violent storming of the Capitol in Washington on January 6, 2021. More than 900 people have been convicted in this regard, including leaders of right-wing extremist militias.
