The guesswork surrounding the professional future of former Chancellor Karl Nehammer is over. The resigning ÖVP boss wants to work as an advisor from now on.
As the daily newspaper “Die Presse” reported, the 52-year-old had Nehammer Consulting GmbH registered in the company register. The only shareholder is Nehammer itself.
The trained communications coach wants to provide strategic advice and general advice.
Nehammer renounced his mandate for the National Council
On Tuesday, Nehammer officially said goodbye to active politics – by resigning from his mandate for the National Council. He signed the waiver at his private dining room table.
Johanna Jachs took over his mandate from the National Council. The 33-year-old lawyer served in parliament from 2017 until the National Council elections last year.
Nehammer failed to form a government
Nehammer was instructed by Federal President Alexander van der Bellen to form a government after the elections for the National Council. When coalition negotiations with the SPÖ and NEOS ultimately failed due to budget problems, the Viennese resigned as chancellor and ÖVP leader in early January.
