The FPö recently expressed the wish of a bonus when children are cared for at home. Such a bonus already exists in Upper Austria and in individual communities such as in Berndorf in the Salzburg Flachgau and in Schwarzenberg in Vorarlberg.
The bonus for childcare was reformed in Upper Austria in 2009. Parents or parents who live with their child or children in a common household and do not use a childcare without contributors receives 960 euros, regardless of income. He is limited to EU citizens who live in the upper Austria. The financing can be requested with the third birthday of a child until the start of the mandatory last year of kindergarten.
6428 applications were submitted last year and a total of 2.5 million euros were paid. The state audit agency announced in 2020 that no clear effects had been established. That is why neither success nor benefit could be assessed.
Premium for children under three years old
There are also premiums in individual communities away from the federal state level, for example in Berndorf in the Salzburg Flachgau. It is about children under the age of three who are cared for at home. The current subsidy from the municipality is 92 and 171 euros per month. The exact height depends on how long the child is cared for at home. Mothers of 17 children currently use this financing, twelve children from the community are provided in a facility.
In the municipality of Vorarlberg of Schwarzenberg (Begenz District), families receive at home for one and a half to three -year -old toddlers 350 euros per year. 30 children are cared for in a facility, 16 at home.
ÖVP: not our claim
Both parties were covered whether the “herd premium” was already discussed in the blue-black coalition negotiations. The ÖVP said it was not a claim, but people will talk about it when the FPö brings the subject.
