“Super-Gau”: The word has made a career in recent weeks, luckily only in a figurative sense. But is that actually the right metaphor for changing the government? The author and scientist Christian Mähr is skeptical.
“Gau” is the abbreviation for “biggest accident to be taken”. The expression “super-gau” sounds wrong. Because if something is the “biggest”, there is no increase. But the smart internet gave me up: “Great,” says it, says, like in classic Latin, “Beyond”. Still a contrast. How can an accident go beyond the “biggest”? Here it is important to read carefully: we are talking about the greatest accident that must be taken, not of the greatest possible. This Gau was a partial melt in the nuclear power plant for decades. Note: a part! When a complete took place in Chernobyl, the “Beyond” Super-Gau offered itself.
