After the devastating storms, Chancellor Karl Nehammer visited the area in Carinthia on Friday.
Chancellor Karl Nehammer visited the disaster area on Friday: “The situation for the Carinthians in the crisis area is devastating. Many of you are faced with the ruins of your existence. You have my condolences in these difficult hours.”
Disaster fund support
According to the chancellor, the federal government will do whatever it takes to help those affected as best and as quickly as possible. This does not only concern the deployment of the army, but also financial support from the disaster fund.
Nehammer thanks emergency services
“But this catastrophe also shows us dramatically that any investment in our armed forces is also an investment in security. I would like to thank the 100 soldiers who are currently on site, as well as all aid organizations such as the volunteer fire brigade and the water rescue service for their unconditional commitment,” said the chancellor.
Federal Minister Norbert Totschnig added: “Investments in protection against natural disasters are investments in human security.”
