Two days after the blue-black coalition negotiations burst, the whole country wonders how things are going on. There were only great silence from the parties on Friday, but there were rumors about discussions between the ÖVP and Spö.
Federal President Alexander van der Bellen had beaten and explored the chairman of all parliamentary parties, which is still possible for options. The most likely variant is probably a black and red coalition, but one would only rule over a mandate and would need the support of smaller parties if the matter.
Spö wants to press the pace
Spö Boss Andreas Babler had shown himself optimistic. In the “ZIB 2” of the ORF, he explained: “This can really be completed with two or three weeks.” You didn’t want to say with whom.
In addition to Babler, the Spö -negotiator team also includes the third national council chairman Doris Bures, who, as the confidant of Mayor Michael Ludwig van Vienna, also suffered from the ÖVP as a negotiating partner. However, she is still in New York until Saturday.
Stelzer: “New elections would harm”
“There are no negotiations, but at the request of the federal president we will have discussions with the other parties,” said the ÖVP on Friday. Who and when you have it was not announced.
The higher Austrian governor Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP), who had accompanied VP -Baas Christian Stocker in the Hofburg the day before, responded in detail. During a press appointment he said that the ÖVP had shown in recent months to “jump over our so -driven ideological shadows that we are also interested in pragmatic solutions”. He hoped that time had come now that a government will also be over: “It is important that everyone now realizes that there is no time and scope for political games or ideological view.”
In any case, new elections would “harm massively”. What is needed is a government with a majority. This also applies to Stelzer if she has only one mandate: “Majority is a majority.”
It would not fail for Stelzer that the negotiator of Andreas Babler Spö, who is not popular in the ÖVP, is: “The person who speaks for a party or also occurs must also decide for himself.” Depending on which someone is, this is also the best representative of the ÖVP.
Neos and greens wait
The Neos had no concrete plans for the coming days on Friday. However, one is in contact with other parties.
Now ÖVP and Spö should agree, said it by the greens. That is the basis for a constructive majority – “and let’s look further”. The Greens would of course be ready for further discussions. Even now people are at different levels in regular informal exchange. In any case, the party -political chess on the back “of our home country” must be terminated.
