Everything to do with immigration is currently playing into the hands of the FPÖ. Recently it even overtook the SPÖ, which was way ahead with 30 percent for a long time. “The SPÖ has the problem that it does not have a clear line on asylum issues,” said Vogl. You have Hans Peter Doskozil’s course in Burgenland, which is quite restrictive, and then you have the Viennas, who have a different approach and don’t know exactly which way to go.
The talks about the editors-in-chief of the “Presse” and the ORF have also caused a stir in recent days. Especially with regard to the ORF, new debates seem to have been sparked in view of the chat affair. The editors call for depoliticization of broadcasting. Such incidents are all the more serious in public broadcasting because it involves taxpayers’ money, says Vogl. These incidents need to be addressed now.
