The Ukrainian President Wolodyymyr Senskyj has excluded meetings with Russian negotiators for peace talks. He would only meet ruler Vladimir Putin and only after the establishment of a joint plan with US President Donald Trump.
As reported, Trump had called Putin on Wednesday and agreed with immediate negotiations about the end of the war in Ukraine. What they would look like and when you could officially start is unclear. Putin himself had recently rejected Senskyj as a negotiating partner because his term of office had already expired. Ukrainian lawyers, on the other hand, see the long -term power of attorney in Senskyj, covered by the War Law. Western governments also further recognize him as head of state.
Putin said he would delegate people if Senskyj wanted to participate in the negotiations. Senskyj had previously said that they could only be led with a new Russian president. At the end of September 2022, after the Russian annexation of the Ukrainian areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Herson and Saporischesja, he even declared negotiations with Putin invalid.
Good conversation with Vance
At the Munich safety conference, Senskyj has now underlined his willingness to peace and talked about a cooperation with a dozen US senators from both parties. Among other things, it included cooperation between armament and prevention less often. He had a good conversation with the American vice president JD Vance, Selenskyj said. “We have to talk more, work more and prepare the plan for how you can stop Putin”.
