In Vienna everything is about the election proposals next week: the parties complete their lists for the early city council and district representation elections on 27 April. Originally planned for autumn, the date of the Spö and Neos preferred the domestic situation. The Spö starts on Monday.
In the morning the various Spö committees days. The lists are presented to the public in the afternoon. In particular, the ranks of the red candidates are presented by the State Secretary Barbara Novak and party leader and mayor Michael Ludwig at 1.30 pm. A media appointment was announced on the site of the town hall club.
Big events on weekends
There will also be the party discussions in the federal government. Because after FPö -Baas Herbert Kickl has dealt with the order of the formation of the government, the Spö is back in the game. Ludwig has already announced that he wanted to integrate more during the new round.
On Friday (February 21) the list of candidates will be forged on the ÖVP during a meeting of the party presidency or the board. According to the Wiener ÖVP, the presentation of the turquoise ranks is planned on Monday, ie on 24 February. Two relevant events will take place on Saturday (22 February): both Greens and Neos will choose their candidates in a state and general meeting.
The FPö could also do this in the coming week, although no appointment has yet been announced here. However, they are already one step forward: the Blue has already solved the top candidates. Party leader Dominik Nepg was nominated at the beginning of January in a meeting of the party council.
Green made a provisional decision
The surprises must also be kept within the borders between the other parties. The state lists of the Spö and the Neos are likely to be led by their party leader Michael Ludwig and Christoph Return. A provisional decision was necessary for the Greens, because there is a double leadership in terms of party leadership with Judith Pühringer and Peter Kraus. Together it was decided to make Pühringer move forward. However, the election itself will only take place at the state meeting.
At the ÖVP, the causa vienna value overshadows the committees, because an indictment of unfaithfulness against party leader Karl Mahrer should be on his hands. It is about payments from the Immo developer to a Mahrers Frau company. The VP -Baas VP -Baas denies all allegations.
The starting point for the parties is quite unusual, because: the elections of the municipal council 2020 almost only brought winners. The Spö came to 41.6 percent (plus 2 percentage points). The greens, who were still coalition partners of the Spö at that time, did not hurt the aggregation. They rose by around 3 percentage points to 14.8 percent. The ÖVP climbed with 11 percentage points, which look forward to more than 20.4 percent.
The Neos reached 7.5 percent, an increase of 1.3 percentage points. However, the FPö crash was dramatic. The blue lost 23.7 percentage points after the Ibiza debacle. They landed in last place with 7 percent.
Published first surveys
There are already predictions for the upcoming choice, although they differ from each other – which is not surprising considering the fleeting federal political situation. The last published data for the Spös show values around 40 percent. The FPö is usually just over 20 percent. However, significant losses are predicted for the ÖVP.
Both losses and profits have already been predicted for the Greens. The Neos seem to be fairly stable. A new collaboration with the Spö seems to be mathematically within reach.
On the other hand, the fact that a party that was a few months ago dared to move to the local council was no longer aiming for it: the beer party announced that the beer party did not want to compete in elections at the beginning of February.
