Smoke bombs, tear gas – injured in tumults in the Serbian parliament

The protests against the Serbian government, which have been going on for months, escalated completely in Parliament in Belgrade. During the announcement of the agenda -items, various opposition politicians stormed to parliamentary president Ana Brnabic and fought a fight with security forces. Smoke bombs and tear gas were also fired. Eggs and water bottles also flew around. According to the Serbian media there are two injuries.

An older parliament member has reportedly had a heart attack and floats in mortal danger. The other injured is a parliamentarian who is pregnant the eighth month.

Parliament President Brnabic, however, decided not to interrupt the session. The speeches of the politicians were then repeatedly disturbed by loud slogans and whistles. The speakers had to take breaks several times because of cough passes. Sometimes the session seemed like a football match in a sold -out stadium. Parliamentary chef insured: “You will not block the work of parliament. You are a gang terrorists. Shame! “

Opposition: “Government no longer has legitimacy”
The opposition wants the parliament only to deal with a draft law, which would protect more funds for state universities. This is one of the demands of the student protests that had been going on for months. The government no longer has legitimacy and could no longer propose laws, said Marinika Tepic of the Freedom and Justice (SSP) opposition party with regard to the dismissal of the prime minister.
