No approval – German greens burst deals deals

Date:

The planned amendment to the basic law in Germany for a financial package of billion dollars from the Union and the SPD is in danger of failing. The green group leader Katharina Dröge announced on Monday that her party would not support the reform – the greens are not ready to finance “election gifts” from CDU, CSU and SPD.

Dröge pointed out, among other things, that CDU boss Friedrich Merz spoke with the fraction tip of the Greens on the mailbox was insufficient. The trade union and the SPD wanted to make a “treasure chest” with “play money” to bring it into tax reduction, in a reform of the Agrardiesel and an increase in the Forsen Platte rate, Dröge said.

Co-party leader Franziska Brantner said that the Greens were not available to finance “election gifts” by Union and SPD. It is about a sustainable reform of the debt. The Liberal FDP had also criticized the plans.

Union and SPD want to reform the debt brake
According to the plans of the Union and the SPD, the debt must be reformed in the basic law for more defense and infrastructure editions. In the future, loans for all defense expenditures above one percent of the gross domestic product should be excluded from the rule – this would be calculated with GDP for 2024 all costs that exceed approximately 43 billion euros.

In addition, a credit financed special fund must be set up at 500 billion euros for investments in the infrastructure, ie for the renovation of streets, rails, bridges, energy networks and more.

Coalition depending on the greens voices
The constitutional changes must be brought to the plenum on 13 March and decided on March 18 by the old Bundestag. The reform must therefore still be decided with the old Bundestag, so that it cannot be blocked by right -wing populist AfD and left in the future parliamentary cast after the new election of 23 February.

Union and the SPD would probably depend on the voices of the Greens as a mood. Because they just don’t have a majority to change the basic law. The new Bundestag will meet for the first time on March 25.
