The public prosecutor in Brussels announced on Thursday that the police had carried out 21 house search orders in Portugal and Belgium. Several suspects were temporarily arrested. A spokeswoman for the EU parliament said that the authorities always work completely together. So far there are no searches in parliament itself.

Who the suspects are in the first instance was initially not communicated. This remains unclear whether and how many MPs are the focus of the authorities or whether they are other employees.
