Junts had asked to reinstate Borrás based on the advice of the UN Human Rights Committee, but the rest of the groups have concluded that this issue and the suspension of Junts’ chairman “have no relation whatsoever”. Borràs has an open lawsuit for corruption.

The Parliament’s Table on Thursday confirmed the suspension of Laura Borràs as President of the Catalan Chamber by requesting Junts not to allow reconsideration for processing.
Parliamentary sources have explained that in both the Table and the Council of Spokespersons, all political groups except Junts have defended that this case is not under any of the presumptions under the regulations to request a reconsideration, but they have also discussed the merits of the case and all have positioned themselves against the lifting of the suspension of Borràs.
That same Thursday, Junts had filed an extension of the request for reconsideration, arguing that Borràs should be reinstated based on the advice of the UN Rights Committee on the violation of the rights of the 1-O detainees when they were deputies, but The rest of the groups have come to the conclusion that this issue and the suspension of the Junts chairman “are in no way related”.
On July 28, the Council of Parliament – with the five votes of PSC, ERC and CUP, against one against JxCat – approved the suspension of Laura Borràs as deputy and president of the Catalan Chamber, the second political authority in Catalonia, after she was brought to trial by the Supreme Court of Catalonia, for the crimes of prevariation and false documentation, by allegedly splitting the contracts of the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes.
