Dodik compares Republika SRPSKA with Israel
On Tuesday the 66-year-old politician went on to Israel. There he participates in a conference against anti -Semitism, which will take place in Jerusalem on 26 and 27 March, there. The Serbian leader justified the special proximity to Israel: “Just as Israel defends himself, the Republika SRPSKA also defends his right to exist and the legacy of their ancestors. Serbs and Jews tried to destroy others. That is why we understand each other. And that’s why we stand together.”
Three decades after the war of Bosnia (1992-95) with more than 100,000 deaths, the country is currently again from political tensions. Recently the Bosnian Serbian leader Milorad Dodik decided a number of controversial laws with the aim of insulating the Republica SRPSKA that was inhabited from the rest of the country by ethnic Serbs. There is currently an arrest warrant against Dodik because he repeatedly ignored the lectures by the public prosecutor in Sarajevo.
Moreover, the 66-year-old politician was recently sentenced to a prison sentence of a year and a court loss for ignoring the constitutional order. The verdict is not yet final, so Dodik is still president of the Republika SRPSKA.
