Mandates covered – Mayor Affair: Opposition forced new elections

Date:

The end of a unique dispute: after the mayor of ÖVP Hannes Kaza won all criticism in 2024 and won the early elections of the local council in Vösendorf (Lower Austria), he resigned for new allegations in February. New elections are now being followed.

“I wanted to put myself in the sacrifice role,” said Mayor Hannes Kaza in Vösendorf after studies were known to do an attack – and resigned via social media via explanation.

The background: The so -attached invoice affair tore deep trenches in the political landscape of the village in the Mödling district almost a year ago. However, Kaza darted all the criticism and, however, was able to earn the absolute majority in the elections of the city council. After an “attack”, in which Kaza suffered injuries in December 2024, the police ultimately determined because of the pretension of this raid. Koza pulled the ripcord.

The ÖVP as a government party wanted to continue to work with Birgit Petross at the top after the sudden turn in this case with a “five -point plan”. The Spö was (finally in vain) a mayor of Vice. But that is no longer possible from now on. All opposition parties have treated their mandates. This means that new elections are essential.

FPö spokeswoman Kerstin Liebl: “A new start is necessary to regain the trust of citizens in politics.” And Spö -Politician from Vösendorf adds: “A restart can only be made with a democratic and legitimate choice.”

Process on March 20

On March 20, the former mayor will have to answer himself in the regional court of Wiener Neustadt for presumably invented attacks. A distraction was stimulated, the suspicion of innocence applies.
