A spectacular light game caused a sensation in many countries on Monday evening. A radiant, spiral formation crossed the nocturnal sky and disappeared with a flash after a few minutes. The phenomenon was also easy to observe in Austria – it was even photographed via Vorarlberg.
Around 9 p.m. observers from Germany, Denmark, Slovenia and Russia reported a strange appearance in the air. The spiral -shaped phenomenon was also seen in England and Wales. In Croatia, a webcam took the spectacle in detail. In Austria, the student Marie-Theres shoulder was able to photograph the phenomenon about Wolfurt (Vorarlberg) photo also caused a stir on social media and there were also reports of an observation.
The appearance was not only impressive, but also mysterious: a light, cloudy structure slowly turned over the sky and eventually went out with a short flash.
The path leads to Elon Musk
Although wild speculations spread on social media, there is a plausible explanation. Experts assume that the spiral was made by surplus fuel from a SpaceX rocket. A Falcon 9 rocket from Florida started on Monday evening at 6.48 pm. The mission, a secret command of the US government, can be responsible for the phenomenon.
Such “Rocket Fuel Vent -Spirals” arise when rocket parts on a large length fuel. The fuel freezes in the ice -cold atmosphere, reflects the sunlight – and thereby creates the characteristic spiral structure.
No connection with the German rake test
Another space project was quickly suspected: the German company Isar Aerospace planned a test start to his spectrum rocket in Norway on the same day. However, this was canceled due to strong wind – the rocket remained on the floor.
The spectacle is probably remembered
Although there is still no official confirmation, all information about the SpaceX Rocket gives the cause. Similar phenomena have already been observed after Rocket starts about Alaska or Australia.
What remains is the fascination for this extraordinary heavenly event – and for many observers the memory of one of the most spectacular phenomena of the year.
