While Austria spends thousands of thousands of euros for the care of non -counseled, small asylum seekers, crime is explosively increased by small migrants. Many of them belong to the group of those non -counseled minors, for which a doubtful childcare costs are up to 18,000 euros per month (!).
The number of suspects of Syrians under the age of 14 has increased ten -time in five years, from 150 in 2020 to 1050 in the previous year. This exorbitant increase is also due to the fact that a total of one hundred thousand Syrians have come to Austria since 2015.
Concerning increase in juvenile crime
Youth crime has generally increased. In 2020 the number of suspects was still below 14 out of 6900, at the end of 2024 it was twice as much (12,900). The number of suspects between 14 and 18 rose from 30,200 to 34,800, in the Syrians the increase was 460 to 2760 suspects.
Minister of the Interior Gerhard Karner confirmed on Sunday in the ORF pressure that the family reunification from Syria will remain suspended for at least a year. The government is currently working to protect it legally. The figures show that this measure works: in January of this year, only 14 submissions from Syria were approved. There were still 400 in September. A good 3,600 Syrians are currently waiting for a decision.
“When children and adolescents become criminal because the system was clearly overwhelmed in this area, as a federal government, we have the responsibility to clearly press the stop button here. And we do that,” says Karner.
Savings to contain illegal migration
The aim of the government to contain illegal migration must also yield savings in the budget, explained Karner. By measures against illegal migration, approximately 27 of the 35 federal healthcare institutions could be concluded. Almost 2000 asylum seekers were housed in Traiskirchen, about two years ago, now younger than 400. “Of course these are considerably less costs.”
All ministers must be saved over all ministers this year. Karner again emphasized that it was not stored in security.
