Easter conclusion: ÖVP, Spö and Neos have so far shown “sovereign” common land. This will certainly stop until the Vienna elections. The question is how you can find a common line in the (financial) crises.
The government of ÖVP, Spö and Neos will serve on Easter Monday for seven weeks. From the start she got skepticism. A first three times experiment, with very different protagonists.
Above all, the Spö with its left -wing -tolken Andreas Babler and the now (naturally renowned) economists Markus Marterbauer as Minister of Finance provided frowning in the economic liberal circles of ÖVP and the Neos. Can that go well? Given a record budget deficit and threatening EU procedure? And the SP-Zeknuchen according to assets and rich and inheritance tax that are strictly rejected by black and pink? Answer up to date: yes.
It goes together. The FPö also watches the concern of a “Pönkanzler Kickler” of the FPö when the trio failed. At least temporarily.
In any case, the Triple Coalition had a lot to do and has a lot to do. Especially with budget and savings problems.
Stocker as a pragmatic resting post
“In these turbulent times, the government is surprisingly sovereign,” says political analyst and opinion researcher Christoph Haselmayer (IFDD). Above all, the empty candidate, Chancellor Christian Stocker of the People’s Party, acts as a quiet pragmatist, who also reflects the survey data of Haselmayer:
- ÖVP (with about 23 percent) clearly for the Spö (maximum 21) in second place, of course clearly clearly behind the FPö (more than 30).
Lawyer Stocker is absolutely not a classic Volk tribun, but probably in wild times for many as a connecting trail, a reliable head of the government.
Meinl Reisinger as a Magnet member
According to Haselmayer, the Spöbaas and vice-chancellor Andreas Babler were not mistaken and images Meinl Reisinger (Neos) quickly sculpt as a Foreign Minister and strictly electricity. This is also demonstrated by the number of members of the Pinks: after an increase of approximately 2700 in early 2024 to 3000 in early 2025, the number has grown to 3900 since the start of the government – plus 30 percent. It shows that the Neos with their will to help shape can also increase their potential.
“This has already started during the negotiations. We have been stormed by new members since accession to the government,” says Secretary -General Douglas Hoyos.
Political expert Haselmayer nevertheless warns against euphoria and sustainable Easter peace. “The three parties are now waiting for the election of Vienna. Nobody can need unrest. After that there are no elections for two and a half years.” Let’s see how long the harmony actually lasts in the face of the difficult times.
