The ÖVP Farmers’ Association wants better networking at EU level and found its own agricultural factory. The support of this was brought to the Chancellery and EPP boss Manfred Weber. The foundation has now been decided at the Congress of the EVP in Valencia.
Required, said, ready. 26 years after the 0: 9 in the country match Austria against Spain in the Mestalla Stadium of Valencia, the two farmers’ bundles Alexander Bernhuber and Paul Nemecek are a small political feeling. During the Congress of the European’s Party (EPP) in Valencia, the Bauernuo now followed its announcements with regard to the establishment of a European Farmers’ Association. After intensive negotiations and countless discussions, the basis of the new faction was determined.
Prominent supporters
Supported by the Chancellor Christian Stocker of Austria and with a lot of support from Lower Austria, the initiative ultimately prevails. Insiders report that EPP boss Manfred Weber, who was re-elected at the EPP congress, had a significant impact on success and supported the foundation internally.
For EU parliament members Alexander Bernhuber, who has received the official order to find the voluntary EU Farmers’ Association, this step represents a milestone: “With the help of this organization we want to maintain the interests of farmers in Europe even better.” And co-initiator Paul Nemecek, director of the LOWER Austrian Farmers’ Association, also mentions specific goals for the coming months: “We want to negotiate concrete measures for less bureaucracy and an import stop for food at EU standard.” The concerns of the approximately ten million farms in the EU must be brought to the attention.
The focus was also yesterday on EU Commissioner Magnus Brunner, who was chosen in one of the eight vice president of the EPP at the congress. “As the strongest political power in Europe, we are a reliable partner in an uncertain world that stands for democracy and freedom. I am delighted to help form our vision for a rich and safe Europe,” said Brunner.
Chancellor ÖVP Baas Christian Stocker and the top congratulated Brunner. Stocker said that Brunner, as a “glowing European” as a federal minister in Austria and as an EU Commissioner, proved “that he is willing to take responsibility”.
