The Biscayan city of Gernika commemorates this Tuesday the 85th anniversary of the bombing of the civilian population by the Condor Legion of the Nazi army and Italian fascists, taking part in the reaction and the flower offering for the victims of the Lehendakari, Inigo Urkulluthe First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine, Sergei Soloveyand the municipal company, headed by the mayor, Jose Maria Gorrono

Later, during the commemorative acts of this anniversary, the Secretary-General for Foreign Action, Marian Elorzaand the Director of Migration and Asylum, Xavier Legarretawill attend a reception together with the representative of the Embassy of Ukraine at the Assembly House of Gernika, which will take place on the 5.30 pmto visit the Peace Museum later.

The memorial acts start tomorrow at 10:30 am.with a flower offering in the sculpture dedicated to Mayor José Labauria, who ran the municipality when the bombing took place.

At 12:00 noon, the Peace and Reconciliation Prizes will be awarded in the Lizeo Theater. The winners are the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom and the caretakers of the Calzada residence.
