Mayor Michael Ludwig asked his party friends to ‘stand together in difficult times’ on May 1 on May 1. Intended: Upcoming cuts through the savings budget. The entire party leadership fears that the good atmosphere can fly away quickly after the elections.
The weather was beautiful, just like the mood of the Spö members after the respectively beaten election. And also in the speeches of the traditional mayor at Rathauplatz, there was enough room for the base and the voters that Vienna held themselves as “stronghold against right -wing populist trends in Europe”, as mayor Michael Ludwig formulated it.
Comparisons with a Republic Foundation
Just like all other speakers, Ludwig brewed that the cloudy atmosphere of recent years – including buffs for party leadership – was not repeated. The fact that upcoming savings measures and cuts in the party leadership are already worrying was all too clear. Ludwig, for example, resorted to the foundation of the Second Republic: then like now, the social democracy “proved that we made ourselves available for state mergers in difficult times”.
“Damocles Sword” from the budget over the country
“Difficult measures” are to be expected and “it will be necessary to take on the upcoming challenges,” Ludwig warned of unity – emphasizes that the savings limitations are not the fault of the Spö and that the “alternative would be a self -proclaimed public prosecutor”. In their speeches, party leader Andreas Babler-Welcomed by the crowds and the other two speakers: Vienna President Marina Hanke and AK President Renate Anderl, who literally spoke about the budget as a “Damocles Sword” about the population.
However, the Spö members of the federal government could still enjoy applause, apart from two from their ranks: Minister of Transport Peter Hanke gave the simple visitor who “with a little sentimentality” in the city council, and Minister of Finance Markus Marterbauer also mixed with the crowd where he showed considerably more text protection.
However, a festive mood was still dominated by the party members on the square. In a survey by the “Kroon”, most – also and especially in view of the party -international fight in the past – were satisfied with the election result, even if all respondents harm the success of the FPö. When it comes to coalition, dominated fully confidence in the negotiating skills, even if there was often praise for the rot-pink work in recent years.
