Tempo 50, not 30 – Police’s radar error led to flooding in penalties

Date:

Curious demolition on a state road in Mautern in Lower Austria: the police “flashed” the wheel that drove faster than 30 km/h – although there is actually 50 km/h.

Imagine strictly sticking to the valid speed limit and is still being punished for lawns. So they were almost 100 drivers in Mautern in the Krems district. They were “flashed” at the mobile radar measurement of the police, although they were not too fast. How could that happen?

Tempo 30 applies almost everywhere
In Mautern there is almost everywhere a speed of 30 – just not on the state roads L114 and L7104. The measurement found exactly in the last place, the Baumgartner Straße. “The maximum permissible speed was wrongly defined at 30 km/h,” explains district captain Günter Stöger.

The error was noticed two days after the advertisements were introduced and treated at the bra. According to Stöger, that return that were wrongly punished have already been informed of the termination of the procedure. “If amounts have already been transferred, they will be rejected to the respective people,” Stöger emphasizes.

Criticism
Neos is not surprised that the police have now passed on an accident during the speed controls. They criticize the confusing signage in the city. “Exceptions to the pace 30 restrictions, such as Baumgartner Straße, are not clearly and understandably shown for road users,” says city councilor Tanja Reiter.
