With this, the national security adviser of Sweden Tobias Thyberg probably did not expect that: after only one day in office, he had to go out of his post. The reason for this is, according to media reports, photos of an old dating profile that blackmailed it.
“They are old photos of an account that I used to have on the dating website Grindr,” Thyberg told the newspaper “Dagens Nyheter”. “I should have been aware of it, but I didn’t do that.” Grindr is a dating app that is popular with homosexual, bisexual and transident people.
Photos are considered checked
Thyberg did not mention the security checks that there were photos of him on the app, the government said. Thyberg confirmed this to the newspaper. For posts in sensitive government agencies, it is necessary that a safety control is performed. Information must be announced that someone can blackmail.

“Systematic failure”
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson criticized that Thyberg had not told the photos before. He said the existence of the photos should have been discovered earlier. “It is a systematic failure that this kind of information has not been revealed,” Kristson complained.
Journey canceled
Thyberg should have traveled to Oslo on Friday to meet state heads and government. But his participation was canceled. Before he became a national security adviser, Thyberg was the ambassador of Sweden in Ukraine and Afghanistan.
Incidentally, Thyberg’s resignation is only a few months after that of his predecessor Henrik Landerholm. Landerholm was charged because he was negligent with secret information – she had found a cleaner.
