The new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived on Saturday with French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Karrmer by train in Kiev. There they want to meet Ukrainian President Wolodyymyr Senskyj, together with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to promote a full and unconditional -30 -day -fire -fires.
This time window must be used for peace negotiations with Russia. US President Donald Trump had made this claim earlier. It is supported by the four top European politicians.
“We confirm our support to President Trump’s requirement for a peace agreement. Russia is asked to no longer hinder the efforts to make permanent peace,” said in a joint statement that they have published on their way to Kiev.
It’s just a fourth day at the office for Merz
In Kyiv, the four heads of state and the government want conversations with Senskyj and commemorate the war deaths. For Merz it is already the fourth capital that he visits for Merz on the fourth day at the office on Paris, Warsaw and Brussels. He has set himself the goal that Germany is again taking on more international responsibility. He always mentions France, Poland and Great Britain as the most important partner in Europe.
