As reported, they had led to the resignation of Thyberg only twelve hours after his appointment. According to the Public Service Swedish broadcaster SVT, the diplomat, who is being held in the meantime, is not Thyberg. The suspicion of espionage is about processes that took place between 1 and 11 May in Stockholm.
The high -ranking diplomat was arrested and released from pre -trial detention because there were “no more reasons” to execute him from a precautionary measure, said the public prosecutor for national security by Lindqvist. The investigation would continue.

The case is related to the photos of the newly appointed national security adviser Tobias Thyberg on the LGBTQIA*Dating Page Grindr. The newspaper Dagens Nyheter had confronted him from 2019 with photos “sexual nature”. These were sent to the Swedish government and various media only 33 minutes after the appointment of Thyberg as a security adviser. The 49-year-old then resigned.
