Security authorities of the United States, Canadas and various European countries have published a security bill on the prevention of Russian cyber attacks for espionage purposes on Wednesday.
It says, among other things, that the unity 26165 of the Russian Military Secret Service (Gru) and the Associated Hacker Group APT 28 – also has access to private webcams and cameras for public traffic monitoring.
Admission was mainly close to border crossings, train stations and military facilities. It was about observing deliveries for Ukraine and making alleged sabotage attacks possible. Further cyber attacks were also directed against the arms industry.
13 States attacked
The warning letter states the methods used for cyber attacks and recommendations for action for better protection against such practices are given. The group had attacked goals in 13 countries: Germany, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine and vs.
According to the information, the attacks of the past three years are mainly aimed at Western logistics and technology companies. That is why they served the espionage against infrastructure nodes such as airports, ports, railway lines and border crossings.
Protection measures recommended
Those responsible for technology and logistics companies must take measures immediately to protect themselves, according to the statement. This includes increased vigilance, multifactor authentication and fast installation of security updates.
The National Cyber Security Center in Groot -Britain belongs to the GCHQ Secret Service. The Federal Intelligence Service, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the Federal Office for Information Technology and Services from the US, the Czech Republic, Poland, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France and the Netherlands also include the authorities involved.
