The “Kroon” recently reported that the electronic health file ELGA has a shady existence. Now she has to be awakened from her now 10-year-old Sleeping Beauty and eventually used extensively. Currently, only 67 percent of hospitals and only 18 percent of the use of the ELGA care institutions use. The level of use is 82 percent for the doctors of the health insurance, including election doctors, but only 44 percent of the residents associated with the system. All doctors are obliged to participate, but there are no consequences if you don’t. From 1 July, resident laboratories and radiologists must also find findings and also mandate photos, from 2026 to 2030 further health data and findings will be added.
Only a fraction of Austria uses Elga
Of the 9.1 million citizens, 97 percent are registered – only 280,000 were actively written out. However, Elga is used by fewer than 100,000 people. That’s just one percent! There is a huge need for action here.
Extensive patient files arise
All health facilities must participate, findings, medication, images, preventive examinations and other data must be collected for doctors and patients. An extensive patient file is made. App should simplify the use
An app is also planned with which you can easily enter the system. There will then be different applications, such as a digital medicine plan. This gives treating doctors an overview of all medication that the patient takes. The entire extension process must be completed by 2030. Many laws must be changed, programs made and network.
The “integrated delivery” is also being worked on, which means that people with a chronic illness must be continuously ensured, regardless of which pension level the responsible work and how the financing flows run. From Elga it is said that it takes care of the left to prevent gaps in the offer.
Literally “Data darling”
The whole thing is of course a data treasure that must be used scientifically and for the efficient control of the health system. Austria has to deal with an almost “epidemic situation in diabetes”. Exact numbers are not available. The number of patients is extrapolated based on the issued medication.
