The inhabitants of the Gaza Strip received first aid supplies after such deliveries were fully blocked by the Israeli government at the beginning of March. Nowadays, “around 90 truck loads with goods on the Kerem-Shalom Crossing were picked up,” explains Uno spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric.
On Thursday, Israel announced that about 100 other trucks with humanitarian aid goods from the United Nations had arrived in the Gaza Strip. However, there were difficulties when the relief supplies were transferred: according to Dujarric, the Israeli authorities had only approved a “very busy area” for the discharges that was “not safe”.
From Wednesday evening the first deliveries were distributed to people in the Palestinian area. In recent months, aid organizations had repeatedly denounced the catastrophic humanitarian disorders in the Gaza Strip and warned about threatening famine.
Criticism of control goods check
The private US Foundation Gaza Humanitirian Foundation (GHF), founded for the distribution of relief supplies in the Gaza Strip, announced that it would soon work on the site. The controversial organization said that it would “recover logistics, security and access that conventional aid organizations would have lost”.
The Doctors of the Aid Organization Sans Borders (MSF) rejects the “US plan and Israel to control the distribution of relief supplies in the Gaza Strip”, as announced on Thursday in a statement to the APA. Humanitarian aid would be further limited and instrumented by the control of the allocation of relief supplies and “subject and the goals of the crew by the Israeli army,” it said. “This cannot be an answer to the humanitarian crisis created by the blockade of the Israeli government itself.”
Netanyahu wants control of Gazastrapes
Under the growing international pressure on Israel to terminate the catastrophic location in the Gaza Strip, Israel’s head of the Benjamin Netanyahu government said on Wednesday that he was ready for a temporary cessation -the fires in the Gaza stook to be retained there to be held there. At the same time, Netanyahu registered the recently announced goal to take over full control over the Gaza Strip.
Babies threatened by the death of hunger
According to the Palestinian information, almost 30 children and the elderly have died of hunger in the Gaza Strip in recent days. Furthermore, thousands are in danger, said Minister of Health Madsched Abu Ramadan. He regards estimates of the United Nations as realistic that 14,000 babies can die without relief supplies. He even said that the number can be too low. More than 90 percent of medication stocks are “too zero”, he added.
