Russia and Ukraine have released another 303 people and have ended their greatest prisoners so far since the start of the war on Sunday. Regardless of this campaign, known at the Kremlin as a sign of “trust”, Russia started the largest air raid in the neighboring country since the start of the war more than three years ago.
It was the third and final phase in the previously unprecedented campaign of the warring parties. The Russian Ministry of Defense said that the agreement in Istanbul was fulfilled between the warring parties. Since Friday, 1,000 prisoners have been freedom on both sides. The agreement was concluded on 16 May during discussions between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul.
Previously unprecedented action
The day before, 307 prisoners had been released. The exchange had started on Friday with the transfer of 390 prisoners. Also in the past, the two warring parties had repeatedly exchanged prisoners. Due to the large number, three phases were needed this time.
Senskyj wants to get all the prisoners back
Senskyj had announced the third and final phase several times for this Sunday. “But the task is to absolutely bring to anyone who is currently stuck in Russia. And that is a common task for our secret services, for our diplomats, for our entire state. Of course this is not an easy task, but it has to be fulfilled,” Senskyj said Saturday.
Of the returners on Saturday, 273 were in the Donetsk area in Russian imprisonment, a large part already in 2022, Senskyj said. Others were caught by the Russians in the Herson, Saporischschja, Kharkiw and Luhansk.
Moscow: Russian soldiers are currently in Wit -Russia
The Russian soldiers are currently on the territory of the Republic of Wit -Russia, where they received the necessary psychological and medical assistance, the ministry said in Moscow. “All Russian military members are brought to the Russian federation for treatment and rehabilitation,” said it.
The exchange was agreed in the middle of the afternoon during the conversations in Istanbul. He remained the only concrete result of the first direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations since 2022, on which US President Donald Trump was insisted.
